Trademark dispute Russia: Bulgari Wins Trademark Dispute Against Russian Perfume Maker. In a trademark dispute between the Russian perfume and cosmetics producer Almaz-M and the Italian jeweler and luxury goods retailer Bulgari, the Moscow Commercial Court ruled in favor of Bulgari on the 29th of May 2012.
Almaz-M reportedly registered the Coral, White Coral and Red Coral trademarks for perfume, toothpaste, essential oils and baby food, while Bulgari is the owner of similar trademarks with the word mark “coral”, such as the Omnia Coral perfume brand. Bulgari filed a lawsuit in February 2012, seeking to terminate Almaz-M’s registrations on the grounds of non-use. The defendant failed to appear at the court hearing. According to the Bulgari representatives, all the mails that were sent to Almaz-M were returned to sender, as the company supposedly does not exist at the given address, in the city of Odintsovo near Moscow.
