In accordance with the Bureau of Grievance, an opposition against a published trademark or Registrar Decision has to be filed at the official registered office. The opposition period in Saudi Arabia starts from the date of notification of the opposition or from the date of advertisement. The opposition period is 90 days.
There are new requirements implemented alongside the current process of opposition, which is a legalized POA (Power of Attorney). The latest addition in requirements is a photocopy of certificate of incorporation, an extract from the commercial register, or a certificate issued by the Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the applicant provided that the business activity is mentioned in the certificate.
The documents mentioned above have to be filed upon submitting the opposition, otherwise it will not be accepted by the authority.
In short, when filing an opposition in Saudi Arabia, the follwoing documents are required; a legalised Power of attorney, a Photocopy of registration abroad, Evidence of use in Saudi Arabia, in the region, or abroad, and information about similar cases with successful results in other jurisdictions if any.
