Apple has been accused of infringing on a trademark of the name Snow Leopard, by a Chinese company. Just after Apple settled its iPad trademark dispute with Proview in China, this new lawsuit started.
An online blog website, reported that Jiangsu Xeubao, which is a chemical company registered the term "Xuebao," the Chinese translation of Snow Leopard, in 2000. In 2009, Apple then released version 10.6 of its OS X operating system , that was named Snow Leopard.
On July 10th the hearing is set to take place in a court in Shanghai. Jiangsu Xuebao has said that it is seeking 500,000 RMB which is around £50,200 from Apple. They also want an official apology from Apple.
Nevertheless, a Chinese lawyer has said that is unlikely that Jiangsu Xuebao will win the lawsuit seeing as Apple didn't use the term “Xuebao” on or in its Chinese Apple Store.
